Festival kicks off on Wednesday – tickets are selling exceptionally well

The biggest genre film festival of the Nordic is ready to please its audience with the year’s most anticipated fantasy, horror, action and sci-fi films. Kinopalatsi will serve as the festival venue with the programme of 41 feature films ranging from newest festival hits to cult classics seen for the first time uncensored at Finnish silver screens.

The ticket sales have started with a bang. The most popular films have been Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria (Italy / USA, 2018) and Gaspar Noé’s hallucination Climax (France, 2018). The screening of Suspiria has already sold out, as has one of the two screenings of Climax. The screening of Summer of 84 (Canada / USA, 2018) and one of the screenings of sci-fi indie gem Prospect (Canada / USA, 2018) are also sold-out.

Other exceptionally popular films include the action-packed cyberpunk thriller Upgrade (Australia, 2018), the epic black metal movie Lords of Chaos (UK / Sweden, 2018), the Argentinian homage to 1970s Italian cult movies Abrakadabra (Argentina / New Zealand, 2018) and the festival’s guests’ cult classics American Ninja (dir. Sam Firstenberg, USA, 1985) and Opera (special effects by Sergio Stivaletti, Italy, 1987). Firstenberg and Stivaletti will attend the screenings of their films during the festival.

This autumn’s festival club will be held in On the Rocks on Friday 23rd of November. Night Visions Midnight Climax features Kalevi Helvetti Midnight Show, the synth artist Levinsky who is influenced by John Carpenter and Goblin, the psychedelic-U.F.O.-story-telling performance duo UFO-tarinoita and world’s most popular milkcore band Mjölkburg. The entrance to the club is for the price of the cloaking room fee.
