Night Visions Attracts A Record Audience

Night Visions Maximum Halloween 3018 ended on Sunday with a record attendance. The festival gained an audience of almost 9 300 film-goers, the biggest audience in the 22 years of its existence. This record further cements Night Visions’ place as the largest genre film festival in the Nordic region.

From the selection of 41 feature films, the most popular was Gaspar Noé’s Cannes winner Climax (France 2018), which had its both screenings sold out in Kinopalatsi’s biggest cinema hall. Most popular classic genre film in the program was the Night Visions guest of honor Sam Firstenberg’s action thriller Avenging Force (USA 1986), his cult classic American Ninja (USA 1985) coming right on its heels.

The eleventh Night Visions Audience Award went to Leigh Whannell’s action-packed cyber thriller Upgrade (Australia 2018). Jordan Albertsen’s punk pioneers documentary BOOM! A Film About the Sonics (USA 2018) took the second place, the third going to the Nordic premiere of Justin MacGregor’s Best F(r)iends: Volume 2 (USA 2018).
