Night Visions Maximum Halloween 3018 audience favourites get additional screenings in WHS Teatteri Union on December 15th. The films of the special screenings are Upgrade and Summer of 84.
Night Visions and WHS Teatteri Union give you one more chance to see two genre gems that will not get theatrical release in Finland. The films will be screened in WHS Teatteri Union on Saturday December 15th. The films are the winner of the Night Visions Audience Award Upgrade (Australia 2018)and a teen thriller paying homage to the 1980s cinema Summer of 84 (Canada / USA 2018).
This autumn’s audience award winner Upgrade transports its audience to the future that seems like an updated version of the sci-fi classic RoboCop (1987). Written and directed by Leigh Whannell it tells the story of biotechnology, nano technology and revenge, as Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green) decides to find the criminals who murdered the love of his life.
The second feature-length film of the Canadian director trio François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell Summer of 84 was sold out during the festival in record time. Known by their post apocalyptic masterpiece Turbo Kid (2015), the filmmakers now tackle the themes of serial killer thrillers and 1980s youth movies. The film that had its world premiere at Sundance has been compared to youth culture corner stones like Stranger Things (2016-) and Stand by Me (1986).
