With pretty much everyone’s party schedule at the end of October getting filled up with all sorts of Halloween related events, Night Visions and WHS Teatteri Union are serving you with a juicy double bill of horror rarities to get you properly warmed up for the celebration already on the first full weekend of the month.
A gritty horror film emerging from the more exploitative sidelines of the 1970s U.S. independent cinema, MEATCLEAVER MASSACRE feels like a tribute to H.P. Lovecraft created by a bunch of highly inventive potheads. TRICK OR TREAT, featuring the music legends Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons in front of the camera, is a bogus horror rarity providing us with an interesting glimpse of the heavy metal hysteria of the 1980s.
Both features will be screened from rare 35mm prints.

08.00 PM TRICK OR TREAT (USA 1986, 98 min)

MEATCLEAVER MASSACRE press quotes:
”The utterly scarce Meatcleaver Massacre is a baffling-yet-brilliant mess. Violent, humorous, and extremely bonkers — a crusty 1970s trash adventure which proudly takes its place as a leader amongst The Massacre Legends. Aside from Chris Lee’s blabbermouthing, you’ll never be bored.”
– Joseph Ziemba / Bleeding Skull
”There is something grinding about in its schlocky gears which makes it entirely watchable, especially if you are fascinated by late 70s grindhouse offerings which are full of interesting angles and deranged kills”
– Loron Hays / Reel Reviews
“I certainly never did a picture with that appalling title! I was told it was a documentary about the occult.”
– Christopher Lee / Fangoria
TRICK OR TREAT press quotes:
”Trick or Treat may very well be the definitive heavy metal horror film – after all, it’s hard to go past a movie featuring an electrical-jizz shooting guitar and a rock-god villain who’s almost offed by way of flushing toilet.”
– Lauren Monaghan / Digital Retribution
”Borrows liberally from both Carrie and Nightmare on Elm Street, yet manages to emerge as a well-crafted, fairly funny hommage to heavy metal hostility.”
– The Phantom / The Phantom’s Ultimate Video Guide
“Trick or Treat was directed by Charles Martin Smith, who played the likable nerd in American Graffiti and has given his own film something of a likable nerd quality.”
– Janet Maslin / The New York Times 25.10.1986
