Scandinavia’s biggest genre film festival Night Visions is returning to the big screens in Helsinki from August 19 to August 22, 2020. Night Visions – The New (Ab)Normal will be the first festival to take place in cinemas in Finland’s capital region after the lockdown.
The festival will not have any virtual elements or any screenings online. The objective is to provide the audience with a genuine film festival experience as close to the “old normal” as possible.
The existing post-lockdown rules and regulations will be taken into account in the production of the event, as the safety of the festival audience is the number one priority of the festival’s organizers. All festival venues will be operating at a reduced seat capacity. Additionally, in order to avoid big crowds from gathering in lobby areas of the festival cinemas, the intervals between the screenings will be substantially longer than under normal circumstances.
Thankfully the restrictions of “the new (ab)normal” won’t be having an effect in the programming of the festival. Night Visions will again be presenting the most eagerly awaited gems of international genre cinema to the Finnish audiences for the first time. In addition to the most talked about films of the late 2019 and early 2020, the lineup will be including some rarely seen classics and a selection of carefully hand-picked short films.
The full lineup of Night Visions – The New (Ab)Normal will be announced on week 31. Tickets go on sale online on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the festival’s website.
