The second Night Visions presents double bill of 2026 in WHS Teatteri Union in Helsinki dives in to the world of mythical aquatic creatures.
Now presented from an extremely rare 35mm film print, CREATURE FROM BLACK LAKE provides the audience with a perfect representation of Sasquatch – or Bigfoot, if you will – on celluloid, as it was imagined in front of a camera during the heyday of the sub-genre in the U.S. in the 1970s. This mix of North American mythology and redneck nostalgia was never distributed in Finland, so this screening marks also the Finnish premiere of the fifth feature by director Joy N. Houck, Jr. (Night of Bloody Horror, 1969, Women and Bloody Terror, 1970).
MERMAID, the fourth feature by Butt Boy director Tyler Cornack, is a highly unique take on the mythical creature of its title. In addition to divine prosthetics SFX work, this South by Southwest world premiere features a stellar performance by Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, What Josiah Saw) that you aren’t likely to forget any time soon.
