Additionally, it needs to be noted that capacities of all festival venues were reduced to under 50 per cent of the total number of seats, in order to meet the social distancing measures of the new (ab)normal and to maximize the safety of our precious audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The festival\u2019s opening film <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>The Lodge<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> (UK \u2013 Canada \u2013 USA 2019) by the Austrian director duo <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Severin Fiala<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Veronika Franz<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> was the most popular fictional feature in the Official Selection of the festival. On the classics front, the Finnish premiere of the 4k version of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Paul Verhoeven\u2019s<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> notorious <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>Showgirls<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> (France \u2013 USA 1995) catered to the largest festival audience. The most popular documentary feature in the selection was <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>The Rise of the Synths<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> (Spain \u2013 USA 2019), <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Iv\u00e1n Castell\u2019s<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> thorough look at the musical phenomenon known as synthwave.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Scandinavia\u2019s biggest festival focusing on \u2013 but not limited to &#8211; fantasy, horror, science fiction and action cinema will be back on the big screens of Helsinki in just three months.
