The biggest Nordic genre film festival Night Visions opens with a blast. The opening film of the Night Visions Maximum Halloween 3017 is the acclaimed The Shape of Water from genre maestro Guillermo del Toro. The romantic fantasy horror film won the Golden Lion at Venice International Film Festival.
November’s Night Visions brings to Helsinki two film legends Mark L. Lester and Christina Lindberg.
The American genre director and producer Mark L. Lester (b. 1948) has directed more than 30 movies. His best known works are the Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic Commando (1985) and the Stephen King adaptation Firestarter (1984) starring young Drew Barrymore. Night Visions will screen Lester’s roller skating Linda Blair starrer Roller Boogie (1979), gang film classic Class of 1984 (1982) and Commando (1985).
From Sweden to Night Visions comes the legendary actress Christina Lindberg (b. 1950) who was one of the inspirations for Quentin Tarantino‘s Kill Bill movies. Lindberg is best known as the eyepatch wearing avenger in Bo Arne Vibenius’ revenge thriller Thriller – en gram film (1973). Night Visions will screen Jan Halldoff’s comedy rarity Dog Days (1970), newly restored Thriller – en gram film and Ikea Johannesson’s new documentary Christina Lindberg: The Original Eyepatch Wearing Butt Kicking Movie Babe (2017).
Night Visions’ other filmmaker guests will be announced later. The complete festival programme, including more than 40 feature films will be announced during the week starting October 30th. Ticket sales open at Finnkino’s cinemas and website on Friday November 3rd.
